My Story by Bob
Since I was a child I have always paid a lot of attention to world events. I suppose my real interest in Palestine was really stirred by events such as the Olympics in Munich, Entebbe and stories of the Leila Khaled.
Being from a nice middle class background I was perplexed as to why people would do such things. All my ideas got completely changed by the atrocities in 1982 during the Lebanese war. Up to 3500 Palestinians were massacred, not by the IDF but by the Lebanese, mainly Christians. The IDF had put a circle around the Sabra & Shatila refugee camps and let others in to do their dirty work.
Since then I have been horrified by what the Palestinians have had to endure but like many I didn't know what to do. So when the recent events occurred and there was a demo in town I wanted to take part to show that I cared. Now I want our Market Square demo to stay until a fair resolution is reached for the Palestinians.
